Montana: Hidden Gems of The Treasure State

Join Joseph and Mark on epic five-day tour of some of southwest Montana's most scenic and historic locations including the Anaconda-Pintlar Mountains, the Granite Ghost town, working ranches, and historic Philipsburg.

What do you think of when you hear the word "Montana"? Cowboys, Ranches, Cattle, Mountains, Homesteaders, Ghost Towns? These are few of the thoughts that race into our mind at the mention of “The Treasure State”. The fourth largest U.S. state in size, Montana is as diverse as it is big: in its culture, its history, its residents, and its geography and geology. Lewis & Clark were some of the first whites to set foot into its expanse, and their legacy lives large even today in many of its historic sites.

Join Joseph and Mark on a five day and four night tour where we explore some of the lesser known and rarely visited areas of southwest Montana. We will avoid the crowds associated with Yellowstone and Glacier National Park, and drill down into the nitty-gritty of SW Montana. We will explore and experience all of these:
·      Scenic and rarely traveled backcountry gravel roads visiting remote river valleys, ranch lands, ghost towns and historic sites.
·      Visit a working ranch and photograph real-life cowboys and engage with people whose ancestors planted their roots in this big and wild landscape.
·      Visit a remote, yet expansive ghost town that will take you straight back into the 1880’s.
·      Photograph lakes, streams, and waterfalls as they make their way through the snow-capped mountains during some of the best wildflower blooms in the West.
·      Sunrise and sunset shoots at select locations that you won’t see in National Geographic or on postcards at the Hallmark store.
·      Lodging at the remote, stunning, and very comfortable Spoon’s Rock Creek Ranch on the Middle Fork Rock Creek.
·      Visit one of the oldest towns in Montana, a still-thriving and amazingly charming Philipsburg, which contains an old-fashioned candy store and incredible craft brewery.

The Cabin's

Think of the words “log cabin,” and you probably envision a little log house sitting next to a creek or lake, with the fire burning and the smell of the Rocky Mountains just off your deck. At Spoon’s Rock Creek Ranch the homey feel of logs and rich cabin décor bring that and more.

The main bedroom at our Rock Creek cabin offers the best sleeping Montana has to offer. This log bed has a queen-size pillow top mattress. The window opens to the creek with year round sounds of water & birds. In the fall elk can often be heard bugling as well as an occasional coyote or wolf calling from the hills above.

The loft is a unique open space that includes 3 comfy double beds and overlooks the gathering room below with a view of the Anaconda Pintlars, an amazing mountain range including Warren Peak. These mountains truly brings to mind “purple mountain majesty”.

Amenities include a master bedroom complete with a log bed, a loft with 3 double beds, 1 bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ, wrap around deck with views of the Pintlars & the creek from every direction, washer/dryer, a flat screen TV with satellite, Wifi & many more modern details to name a few.  Our Rock Creek cabin offers year-round accommodations.
